To calculate an Average we need data so let's get some of our own!

In pairs you are going to take turns to stack Oreos and record the number you get in the table provided.

You will each do this twice and record your results in the table.

We will then share our results.

The Range

• The difference between largest and smallest number...

What does the Range tell us?

• The Range allows us to find out how spread out the values are.
• 
  
• The bigger the spread, the more the data VARIES or the more INCONSISTENT it is.
• 
  
• The smaller the spread, the less the data VARIES making it more CONSISTENT.
